U.S. House of Representatives Partners with Atlantic Exhibits to Promote Sustainability

Washington DC — 4/15/2010 The United States House of Representatives – in conjunction with the Sustainable Business Network of Washington – has been working to develop the U.S. House of Representatives’ Green Expo that was held on April 15 in Washington, DC. As part of the event, the House selected Atlantic Exhibits as a partner to develop, design and construct an exhibit touting the success of the numerous sustainable projects implemented by the Hill.

“Atlantic really enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with the staff from the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer to create a wall capable of outlining the tremendous efforts undertaken by the U.S. House of Representatives,” John Snyder, Atlantic’s Vice President of Business Development stated. “Everyone should feel proud that the House has taken such an active role in this important movement. By placing this level of emphasis on the conservation of Earth’s resources, our government is proving its dedication to Sustainability.”

The exhibit was a 50-foot wall that communicates major accomplishments by the U.S. House of Representatives in reducing the overall environmental impact of everyday activities. Some of these victories include: the replacement of 100,000 plastic bottles with compostable bottles eliminating several tons of landfill waste, exchanging 13,000 incandescent light bulbs with CFL’s reducing the total amount of energy used, the saving of 46 million gallons of water annually by using low-flow toilets, faucets and implementing other measures, and much more. In keeping with the “3R’s of Sustainability – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle,” the House chose to repurpose existing hardware from Atlantic’s rental inventory resulting in both less waste and greater cost savings.
